The US has been able to survive up to this point, because there
are still many countries transacting in US dollars (which, as we
know, is free floating and not backed up by silver or gold, as it
was way back in the past). The day countries decide to say f uck
it, drop the US$ and switch to Euros or something, and stop buying
up whatever the Federal Reserves print out (as far as I know the US
is the only country that can get away with printing whatever $$$ it
needs), the US dollar is going to collapse. Oh, and isn't the US
national debt at over 14 trillion and counting?
PS: I could be wrong. I do not follow the financial market closely.
